Yelle ("we", "us", "our") — operated by Yelle Technologies

1. What We Collect

When you use Yelle via WhatsApp, we collect and process:

  • Account information: Your WhatsApp phone number, name, business name, location, and business type
  • Transaction data: Sales, expenses, stock levels, customer debts, and other financial records you log
  • Voice notes: Audio recordings you send, which are transcribed to text and then deleted within 24 hours
  • Photos: Receipt images, logo uploads, and document vault files you send
  • Usage data: Message timestamps, feature usage patterns, and subscription status
  • KYC data (if you apply for a loan): Legal name, date of birth, Ghana Card number, gender, next of kin

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide the service: Process your transactions, generate reports, send alerts and reminders
  • AI processing: Understand your messages (text and voice), generate business insights, personalise responses
  • Reports and statements: Generate PDFs for your use, including loan applications
  • Proactive alerts: Low stock warnings, weather alerts, debt reminders, and business tips
  • Marketplace: Match buyers with sellers (only your business name, location, and phone number are shared — never your financial data)
  • Improve the service: Analyse aggregate, anonymised usage patterns to improve features

3. Who Sees Your Data

Your financial data is private. Only you can see your numbers.

We share data with these third parties solely to provide the service:

  • OpenAI: Processes your text messages and voice transcriptions to understand intent. OpenAI does not use your data for training.
  • Supabase: Securely stores your data (encrypted at rest and in transit)
  • Meta/WhatsApp: Delivers messages between you and Yelle
  • Paystack: Processes subscription payments (we never see your card or MoMo PIN)
  • Loan partners (only with your explicit consent): When you apply for a loan, we share a financial summary with the lender you choose. You can revoke access at any time by typing "revoke access".

We never sell your data. We never share your financial records with anyone without your explicit consent.

4. Data Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
  • Database access is restricted with row-level security policies
  • Voice notes are transcribed and original audio is deleted within 24 hours
  • Optional 4-digit PIN protection for sensitive reports and statements
  • Partner access tokens expire automatically and can be revoked at any time

5. Data Retention

  • Your data is kept for as long as your account is active
  • If you stop using Yelle, data is retained for up to 5 years (for financial record compliance), then deleted
  • You can request immediate deletion at any time (see Section 6)
  • Voice note audio: deleted within 24 hours of transcription
  • Marketplace listings: automatically expire and are removed after 30 days

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: Type "export my data" on WhatsApp to receive a full JSON export
  • Delete your data: Type "delete my data" to permanently remove all your records
  • Revoke partner access: Type "revoke access" to cut off any lender's access to your records
  • Change or correct data: Type "edit" or "delete" followed by the transaction to modify
  • Withdraw consent: Stop using the service at any time. Your data will be retained per Section 5 unless you request deletion.

These rights are provided in accordance with the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

7. Children

Yelle is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

8. Cookies & Tracking

The Yelle website (yelle.live) uses essential cookies only for functionality. We do not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking pixels on the website. The WhatsApp service does not use cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via WhatsApp. Continued use of Yelle after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Governing Law
